CITY GUIDE FOR VISITORS

Where to eat in Daejeon
Ask your AI, and book the table in the same chat

Daejeon is known for Sungsimdang bakery, knife-cut noodle soup (kalguksu) and spicy stir-fried tofu (dubu-duruchigi). Here are local favorites in four neighborhoods, from the old downtown of Eunhaeng-dong to the hot spring town of Yuseong. Ask the AI you already use, in your own language, and Yumi finds the place and books it in the same chat.

Where to eat, neighborhood by neighborhood

Picks are based on the same ranking your AI gets from Yumi, and refresh every day.

01

Eunhaeng-dong (Sungsimdang)

The old downtown where Sungsimdang's main bakery stands. While you're there for bread, stay for a bowl of kalguksu or pork bone stew.

Ask your AI“Kalguksu near Sungsimdang bakery.”

02

Dunsan

The newer downtown of government offices and companies, with plenty of pork barbecue, raw fish and shabu-shabu for a group dinner.

Ask your AI“Group dinner for 5 in Dunsan tonight.”

03

Yuseong Hot Springs

A neighborhood of hot spring hotels, with easygoing fried chicken, thinly sliced raw fish and jjamppong spots for after a soak.

Ask your AI“Dinner after a soak at Yuseong Hot Springs.”

04

Expo Park

Near Expo Science Park and Hanbit Tower, with restaurants clustered around Daejeon Shinsegae.

Ask your AI“Lunch with kids near Expo Science Park.”

How it works

  1. 01

    Connect Yumi to your AI

In ChatGPT, search “HeyYumi” and hit Connect. In Claude or Perplexity, add https://mcp.heyyumi.ai/mcp as a custom connector. It's a one-time, free Google sign-in.

  2. 02

Ask like you'd text a friend

Name a dish, a neighborhood, a time or a budget, in your own language. Yumi searches real local venues and answers in the language you used.

  3. 03

    Book by chat or voice

Say “book it for 2 at 7” and the request goes to the restaurant. If your AI app has voice, you can say it out loud. The confirmation comes back in the chat.

Common questions

Where should I eat in Daejeon?

If you're stopping at Sungsimdang, have kalguksu or dubu-duruchigi in the old downtown of Eunhaeng-dong too. Dunsan is good for a group dinner, Yuseong for a hot spring trip, and Expo Park for a day at the science museum with kids. Tell your AI the dish or time you have in mind and Yumi narrows it down.

How do I book a restaurant in Daejeon as a foreigner?

Connect Yumi to the AI you already use and ask it to book. At Yumi partner restaurants the request goes straight to the owner and is confirmed back to you in the chat. You share your name and a phone number from any country, plus an email if the number isn't Korean. There's no deposit. Most other restaurants with a phone number take requests too, daily from 11:00 to 21:00 Korea time.

Do I need to speak Korean or install a Korean app?

No. Ask in your own language and Yumi answers in it. English is supported today and more languages are rolling out. Romanized names like Myeongdong or Haeundae work too.

How many places in Daejeon can Yumi search?

About 23,000 restaurants, cafés and bars in Daejeon. Venues confirmed as closed are hidden.

Is it free?

Yes for personal use through your AI, up to about 20 questions a day. Sending a booking request costs nothing.

On the way to Sungsimdang or for a business dinner, ask the AI you already use and find a local table in Daejeon in your own language.
